Business Spotlight: Pear Tree Consignment
Small businesses and the people who own and work in them are the heart of our Edmonds community. To keep our downtown thriving, it’s more critical than ever that we think local first.
In this new series, we will be highlighting independently-owned businesses, and learn more about the folks that make them run!
Meet Christine Poirier from Pear Tree Consignment.
What is your favorite part of your business?
For me it’s about the community and the relationships. The past few months have been traumatic for many of us, and I love how the community has rallied together and neighbors are supporting neighbors. My customers have become my friends. But I also love the clothes. Every day we receive fabulous new consignments, and it’s a win-win for people cleaning out their closets and getting a return on their investments, while shoppers are able to find new treasures at a great price.
Why did you start your business?
I worked in Healthcare for 13 years, which I did enjoy. But owning a clothing store has been a lifelong dream. I finally decided to take the plunge last year and do what I love!
Why did you choose Edmonds for your business?
I’ve lived in Edmonds for 25 years, I’ve worked here, and raised my kids here. I love this community and wouldn’t think about having my business anywhere else.
What is unique about your business?
We support the reduce/reuse/recycle model by offering a venue for people to upcycle their gently used quality clothing and accessories (and get some return on their investment). Buyers can find quality brand-name and designer pieces at a fraction of what they would pay elsewhere.
Why should people do business with you?
When people consign or shop at Pear Tree Consignment, they are not only supporting a new small business, they are also supporting a philosophy of being a deliberate and thoughtful consumer.
What are you currently doing differently during this time?
We are open 7-days per week, following safety and health guidelines including sanitizing and limiting capacity. We also offer after-hours shopping appointments for those who prefer that option.
Tell us a fun fact about yourself!
I have two giant fur-babies (River is a Newfoundland and Forrest is a Leonburger). As any proud mama would, I do have pics available to see when you stop by the store. 😊
Is there anything else you’d like to tell us about your business?
We love our regular customers and we love seeing new faces. Please stop by and say “Hi”. Oh, and we do have a big parking lot right behind the store with plenty of free parking!
