Edmonds Knows How to Holiday
In Edmonds, we like to make everything festive, especially the holidays, so to say we’re excited to kick off the holiday season in our favorite city by the Salish Sea is a massive understatement.
We’re talking Holiday Market! Tree Lighting! Emily The Elf! Trolley! Drink Bingo! Ornament Stroll!
It’s all happening. Plus some! And we’re ready for it.
Let’s talk about each thing in a little more detail.
Edmonds Holiday Market
We barely have to mourn the ending of the Edmonds Summer Market because a little over a month later, our Holiday Market takes root in the same location right downtown. In front of City Hall, Saturdays will introduce you to gorgeous wreaths, live music, and giftables galore. Save the dates here, and we’ll see you out in the streets.
Tree Lighting
Join us at the unofficial town square (Centennial Plaza, 5th Avenue N & Bell Street) the Saturday after Thanksgiving for our Tree Lighting Ceremony. The fun kicks off at 3pm with treats, beverages, and donation drives. Following the lighting, the Masonic Lodge will host an “after party” with more treats and photos with Santa!
Holiday Trolley + Emily the Elf
We are delighted to have the Holiday Trolley back again this year (its eighth!). And the best part? It’s FREE. Emily the Elf will be along for the ride, and she’ll be spreading both cheer and fun tidbits about our historic seaside town while you take in the sights and sounds of the season. The trolley comes by every thirty minutes, so you’ll have plenty of opportunities to catch it. Hop off and stroll, get back on, and bring friends! Check out the trolley map and dates here.
Festive Drink Bingo
Now celebrating its third year of fun, Festive Drink Bingo allows you to check 20+ participating bars and restaurants downtown Edmonds for everything from a ‘nog-infused latte to a bourbon cocktail—and everything in between. The rules are simple: Get a card from one of the participating bars or restaurants, purchase a drink (takeout counts), get a stamp, and win prizes! For the complete list of who’s in this year (along with their special creations), check back soon!
Ornament Stroll
As if getting all of your holiday shopping kicks in downtown wasn’t fun enough, our retailers are upping the ante with ornaments. Spend $40+ at participating stores during the week-and-a-half-long shopping window, and you’ll get a unique tree decoration to do with what you please, beginning with lovingly gazing at it. We promise no one will judge you for stopping on the sidewalk, ornament aloft, twirling it, and smiling at its every angle. Don’t get greedy, though: ornaments are limited to one per customer at each location while supplies last. If you challenge yourself to collect them all, use #edmondsholidays to share your goodies on social media!
Wreath Walk
While you’re out strolling for ornaments, you can also walk around to see all the wreaths downtown businesses have used their creative visions to put together. An event created by Art Walk Edmonds, the Wreath Walk features the work of local artists. Wreaths are hung in downtown storefronts, adding even more holiday cheer to the streets for the holiday shopping season.
Gift Wrapping
Get your gifts wrapped at Rogue! The table out front will be easy to spot. The first three weekends of December, bring all your presents to 5th and Main, and our talented wrappers will take care of the rest. Pricing varies by the size of the gift and is $2-5 per, but any amount of donation is welcome. The wrapping station is also a fundraiser for the Class of ‘23 EWHS Safe and Sober Grad Night!
See Santa
We’d be remiss if we didn’t mention the big guy in the suit. He’ll be in a few places around town, and you can keep in contact with him via snail mail by sliding letters into the red mailbox outside of the Log Cabin Visitors Center at 5th & Bell. Santa is a pro delegator, so expect a letter from one of his elves if you get your requests written and sent by December 16.
