Even More To Love This Summer

Summer is in full swing, and we’ve been lov-ing it. Have you been loving it? We sure hope so!

As promised, we’re going to go into a little more detail about two key events, one of which is new (as in celebrating its second year and moving into the summer season) and the other that’s a mainstay—both on one epic, summer-concluding weekend.

But first, a refresher of all that’s still on our—very busy—summer schedule:

Crow in Downtown EdmondsEdmonds Lovin’ Summer

Not that you need much hand-holding, butttt Lovin’ Summer is our way of showing you how to follow the sun downtown. There is a lot going on in the summer, so we’re not taking any chances.

If you’ve been out and around already, you may have noticed that participating downtown Edmonds shops and businesses have clings in their windows featuring our bright graphic, are handing out free stickers to customers, and have posters hanging in their spaces promoting summer events.

The sun in downtown Edmonds is shining brightly—and we’re turning our faces toward it. Check out these upcoming events full of opportunities to experience its warm, glowy glory:

PorchFest in Downtown EdmondsPorchFest Edmonds

After its inaugural year, PorchFest is back—and operating in warmer weather! There will be more hosts and performers, staggered start times, an acoustic corridor, and increased snack options to keep everyone fed and watered appropriately. Let’s talk details about this fun, family-friendly, and FREE community event.

Featuring an expanded lineup and enhanced format, PorchFest is sponsored by the City of Edmonds’ Reimagining Neighborhoods and Streets program, which encourages people to activate their streets to build community and promote local businesses.

Which streets, you say? These (<– click for this year’s map).

2023 will see more performers and more porches, along with yards, alleys, streets, and sidewalks to bring us together while promoting the arts. You’ll hear all types of performances, including spoken word, choruses, dance, bands, and more, AND meet fantastically talented people who live in and around Edmonds. Make sure to hydrate, pre-plan your route, or see where the wind takes you as you make the rounds.

Plus, if you’re out and feeling in a shopping mood, stop into one of the dozen participating shops offing up to 70% off during the Edmonds Brouhaha, downtown’s annual backroom blowout and sidewalk sale! Find the full list here.

Edmonds Classic Car ShowThe Edmonds Classic Car & Motorcycle Show

The day after the PorchFest, the streets will remain closed for our annual Classic Car & Motorcycle Show, which is expected to attract 8,000+ spectators to ogle and drool over 250+ classic two and four-wheeled vehicles.

The event runs from 10am-4pm, with an awards ceremony at the Fountain at 3:30pm.

While pups are encouraged for PorchFest, give them a day to recover during the car show. They’re not allowed at this event.

Other things to note:

  • – There will be an all-day DJ at the Fountain Information booth
  • – Come early to enjoy a free pancake breakfast at North Sound Community Church at 4th Ave N & Bell St. from 9am-1pm
  • – And, new this year: Spend $1 to vote for your favorite cars, which raises money for the Edmonds 4th of July celebration

Okay, you have a big weekend to prep for. Don’t forget to add all the other events leading up to it to your calendar and start doing your stretches to get limber for all the walking the second weekend of September.

We’ll see you out on the streets—and on the socials. Tag us in your posts (@edmondsdowntown) on Instagram and Facebook so we can keep up with your good times! Extra bragging rights go to those of you who snap a photo in front of the temporary mural outside of Maize & Barley and add #lovinsummeredmonds.
