Give Mom an Edmonds Kind of Mother’s Day
Simply put: Moms are the best. We understand and embrace that, so we have a whole host of ways you can celebrate your favorite moms downtown Edmonds this Mother’s Day. We kick off her (may we be so bold as to suggest “long” in front of “weekend?”) weekend with the most lingering of meals, brunch, and end with lots of hugs. In between? Endless possibility.
As for preparing her day, you may go for a classic florals route, and even within that, there are many gorgeous paths you can take. Remember a few articles back when we talked about gardening? Even in March, we knew you might want to get ahead for Mother’s Day, so we included early ideas there. We’ve also touched on them in our flowers section below. Reminders can’t hurt!
You’ve been paying great attention to her all year, so you may sense mom could use a day of pampering. We have a big list of options there as well.
Whichever road you choose to take, mom’s going to love the options in downtown Edmonds, especially since quite a few businesses are preparing specials just for her. Allow us to show you where you could begin pulling it all together for the women who do it all:
Buy her brunch
Does mom love brunch? Of course, she does! Here are some of the places where you can spoil her tastebuds:
– Fire & The Feast will be opening at noon to serve lunch with a few specials all weekend. They will also be selling Mother’s Day flower bouquets with next-door neighbor, FIELD. Did we hear “Two birds, one stone?”
– The MARKET will have a Mother’s Day sparkling rosé special all weekend
– The Rusty Pelican is your spot if she’s a Bacon Bloody Mary fan. They also have eight (eight!) mimosa flavors. The Rusty Pelican’s fresh-squeezed juices are a delight, whether she wants to add a splash of Prosecco or not
– Santa Fe opens at 11 a.m. and will kickstart her weekend with a full belly and a happy heart. Call ahead to request a plate of churros for a little extra surprise as you’re all starting to digest
– Salt & Iron is launching brunch “mimosa buckets” just in time for mom’s big day!
-Give her some tropical vibes with a tasty Caribbean brunch at Calypso Edmonds.
– And, for the breakfast-sandwich-and-go moms in your orbit, consider grabbing a latte to go with it from Café Louvre
Mom more of a dinner and drinks fan? Give her a night on the town at Charcoal, Dusted Valley, Chanterelle, Maize and Barley, Salish Sea, Kelnero, Vinbero, Demetris, Kahlo’s, Thai Cottage, and more!
Making Mom a custom tee at Rogue
Present her with gifts
If breakfast in bed (with a pre-ordered quiche or Berry Chantilly Cake from Red Twig Bakery Cafe) is more her style, bring the day to her. You can create a custom tee at Rogue to present with her coffee and pastries. You could also walk over to Walnut Street Coffee and put together a picnic-themed gift bag with one of their banana leaf totes stuffed with melamine plates, a picnic blanket, and reusable bamboo silverware. Be sure to order her a special Mother’s Day-themed drink with matcha and rose syrup while you’re there!
She may be on the hunt for a quiet place to feel productive, so give her the gift of coworking! Workhorse is offering moms a week off (five days to use as she wishes) for FREE in their industrial-chic space just two blocks from the ferry.
Cozy robes at Soaring Heart
Take her shopping
Spreading throughout Frances Anderson Playfield on May 7th is Edmonds Spring Fest, an annual festival brought to town by Urban Craft Uprising. There will be hundreds of talented vendors, food trucks, and so many fun things to peruse. This event is a great way to ring in spring and it’s happening almost all day—from 10 a.m. until 5 p.m. After your lap around the event, make your way down the hill to her favorite shops: Little Bipsy, Anchor Chic, Edmonds Bookshop, Treasures and Teas, The Papery, Sound Styles, Pear Tree Consignment, Rebekah’s Boutique, MaJe Gallery, Crush Footwear, J Rankin Jewelers, and more.
While she’s perusing one of the above, slip out and pick up a thoughtful surprise: She’ll bask in the ultimate in luxury with a new, organic robe from Soaring Heart and a set of matching charm necklaces from Crow.
Pump up the pampering
In the dictionary, the definition for “Mother’s Day” is “extreme pampering.” Where to begin with that? We have a few ideas:
Gift her experiences or classes at:
– Barre3
– Bodyworks Massage (her first time is free!)
– Ombu
– Woodway Wellness (offering five reformer pilates classes for $150 for Mother’s Day)
And tons more!
Find some flowers
Remember that gardening article we mentioned at the top? In it, we talked about planning ahead for Mother’s Day, which included putting in an order for your hanging basket at Garden Gear & Gallery. And, in addition to working with Fire & The Feast during the eatery’s mom-centric celebration, FIELD will have grab-and-go bouquets, personalized boxes, and custom arrangements available. Might we suggest the monthly membership? Moms should feel celebrated all the time.
If the kiddos want to be crafty, they can make a living bouquet at the Edmonds Farmer’s Market on May 7. A $10 donation gets them all the dirt and supplies and family fun they need! This 20+-year tradition is bringing in the next generation of families celebrating moms.
Feeling thoughtful? Adopt a corner park in her name. Learn more here and choose her garden here—donations offset the cost of the City’s flower program.
If we’ve said it once, we’ve said it a million times: you really can’t go wrong spoiling mom in downtown Edmonds!
