It’s An Edmonds Kind of Live Music Scene
The Downtown Edmonds blocks are alive with the sound of music. Literally! And in bigger and better ways every year. This community loves art—invests in it, expects it, and embraces it. So, we decided to dig into the free, live music scene a little more deeply. What we uncovered is it’s not relegated just to summer.
It’s ongoing.
Settle in and read on about where and when to find music Downtown Edmonds that will make you feel not only more connected to your friends and neighbors but also freshly, fully alive.
Dusted Valley Wine Bar
Just two blocks up from the ferry, there’s a space where time slows and weekends start a little earlier. Dusted Valley Wine Bar isn’t just pouring tasty Washington wines—it’s curating the soundtrack to your weekend wind (or should we say, “wine?” :))-down with frequent Friday night live music.
Picture this: vaulted ceilings framing golden-hour light, the spring sun dancing through the glass of the small-batch Cabernet or Syrah you’re swirling in your hand, and the smooth sounds of Jake Bergevin’s jazz or Lisa Moffatt’s soulful vocals creating that vibey atmosphere that makes you text your friends: “You need to get down here. Now.”
No reservations are required for the Friday sessions (5:30-7:30pm) starting back on April 25th—just bring yourself and someone you know likes to sway to the music, especially after a few healthy pours. The Dusted Valley family has transported a little slice of their Walla Walla vineyards to Main Street, creating the perfect backdrop for those moments when good wine, great music, and IRL meetups flow together as naturally as their Bordeaux-style blends do.
The Edmonds Summer Market
Fresh produce and the promise of handmade goods might have drawn you to the Edmonds Summer Market, but it’s the live music floating through the crowd that’ll make it the perfect little Saturday. Nearly 90 booths line the streets of Downtown Edmonds with musicians set up nearby.
The market’s commitment to “local” extends beyond its strict no-resellers policy for vendors—it includes sourcing local musicians who busk and jam and strum while you mosey. From acoustic solo acts to small ensembles and everything in between, the market’s music adds a layer of festivity and community to the weekly event (back in May). Plus, shoppers often linger longer as they pause to enjoy a song or two between purchases.
What makes the market’s music so special is how it integrates with the overall experience—it’s the music that creates the soundtrack to a perfectly Edmonds kind of Saturday. You in for brunch after?
Engel’s Pub
For fear of sounding trite, Edmonds’ musical heart beats at Engel’s Pub. In a world where authenticity has become rare, Engel’s Pub is a testament to the magnetic pull of genuine connection through music. Established in 1934, this local landmark isn’t just Edmonds’ longest-running watering hole—it’s the epicenter of a music scene that refuses to be anything but itself.
You’ll feel it immediately: that indefinable bass (and laughter among friends) that separates manufactured entertainment from the real thing. Tuesday’s Open Mic with Dano Mac is a 12-year running tradition where musical souls find their tribe. With the promise that “you never know who will walk through that door,” Engel’s creates the kind of fun that keeps people coming back decade after decade.
This place is far from the polish or perfection that runs through many Instagram feeds—it’s about the raw, beautiful authenticity of live performance. From Thursday and Sunday karaoke nights to trivia that exercises more than just your drinking arm, Engel’s is all about the connections that happen when we just…play together.
Main Street Commons
Main Street Commons was intentionally designed to bring the community together. Tucked between 6th & Main, this (mostly) outdoor space is right where strangers become neighbors and neighbors become friends, all against the backdrop of local bands that make you want to tap your feet. Plus, kids love the music, too!
The Commons has quickly established itself as Edmonds’ answer to the question: “Where can we go tonight that feels alive?” With performances ranging from jazz-funk fusion to steel drum rhythms, this open-air refuge makes ordinary weekends much more memorable. What makes these concerts truly special isn’t just the quality of musicians (though that certainly helps)—it’s the way local businesses like Virtue Cellars, Victor Tavern, Molly Moon’s, and Johnny Mo‘s give us everything we’ve ever wanted all in one place: food, drink, and a whole lot of fun.
Musicology Co.
Musicology Co. is more than a boutique record shop—it’s the gathering ground for our local music community. Every Saturday from 6-7pm, music lovers of all ages can enjoy free live performances featuring a wide roster of local and touring artists. For aspiring songwriters, Musicology hosts a monthly open mic on the last Wednesday of each month. Bring what you’re working on!
Owner Rachel Gardner comes with a lifetime of musical experience. Born into a family of musicians and raised in music stores, Rachel was pretty much born with a passion for supporting artists. When she’s not running Musicology, she plays bass guitar in two bands and volunteers with local festivals, including almost all of the events listed in the last section of this article. Musicology Co. also offers a DJ collective that’s available for hire at your next event!
Vinbero
Let the vino and tunes flow! Our friends at Vinbero aren’t just pouring exceptional wines—they’re crafting sensory experiences where perfectly paired notes fill both your glass and the air around you.
Vinbero’s curated live music lineup (keep tabs on the schedule here) makes going out for a glass of wine (and a bite) feel like a cozy, live show. From John “Pinetree” Paynich’s bass-baritone vocals and harmonica-infused Americana to James Howard’s blues-rock guitar that earned him Washington Blues Society awards, Vinbero hosts artists who bring down the house, as it were. You’ll find indie-dark pop from BecLynn one evening, the smooth jazz trumpet of Jake Bergevin (who leads the famed Javatown Swing Orchestra) another night, and even special appearances by nationally recognized talents like Jaeden Luke who was on The Voice.
Beyond their four walls, though, Vinbero is also partnering with Jazz Clubs NW during Art Walk Edmonds, bringing jazz to the historic Masonic Center while pouring glasses that complement the evening’s musical stylings.
