Get to Know Our Kid- and Dog-Friendly Downtown
If you’ve been out and about lately, you’ve probably noticed that Downtown Edmonds is full of kids and dogs, often together and with their families. Water bowls dot shop entrances, strangers and neighbors alike stop to coo over your toddler’s outfit and scratch behind your pup’s ears. Business owners have treats stocked specifically for both species.
If you’re new to Edmonds or looking to rediscover Downtown with fresh eyes and family mascots in tow, here’s your guide to making the most of what our blocks have to offer.
A Downtown Day featuring Pups and Pint-Size People
Tot Tuesdays at The Crumpet Shop
Start your morning at The Crumpet Shop, tucked inside Main Street Commons. Their Tot Tuesdays program (10am–12pm) lets kids run wild with balls and bubbles while parents enjoy coffee and fresh crumpets. It’s chaotic and cozy, and your dog is welcome on the patio. From there, it’s an easy downhill stroll to Waterfront Coffee Company for a pick-me-up, with ice cream, smoothies, and bakery items to fuel the next adventure.
On Saturdays, head to the Edmonds Summer Market (9am–2pm through October). This place is peak kid-and-dog energy. Your children can pick out fresh produce while your pup sniffs treats and gets petted by every vendor in sight. Nearby, Dusted Valley’s patio welcomes dogs who want to lounge in the shade while you sip vino.
Browse Little Bipsy for matching mommy-and-me sets, or let your kids lose their minds at Teri’s Toybox, an Edmonds institution since 1981. They carry everything from newborn essentials to the viral Jelly Cat collection, plus window displays that stop traffic.
For ice cream, Molly Moon’s and Revelations Yogurt (RevYo) are perfect stops. Load up on toppings, pile around an outdoor table, and watch your kids’ faces light up while your dog waits patiently for the inevitable melty drip.
Adventures Just for the Kids
Alley Bell Music
Alley Bell Music has options for tons of ages—from baby Music Together classes to their Sing, Drum, Play Summer Camp for ages 6–8, diving into voice training, drumming, and piano fundamentals.
ARTspot continues to be a haven where young imaginations find inspiration among the work of 20+ local artists and in aisles of supplies. Check their website for workshops and the No Talent Art Club.
Common Formme just launched a monthly baby storytime in their gorgeous Downtown showroom and design studio.
Start your Find Waldo in Edmonds hunt at Edmonds Bookshop, running through July 30. Pick up a passport, hunt for Waldo at local businesses, collect 25 stamps, and enter for a chance to win a grand prize. The kids’ section is perfect for floor-sitting and family reading time.
Edmonds Hobby Shop & Model Machinist Center has shelves full of model trains, rockets, wooden boats, and cars—plus all the paint and glue you need to bring big imaginations to life.
Glazed & Amazed runs summer art workshops throughout July and August with three-day sessions (Tuesday–Thursday) featuring canvas, glass, pottery, and clay projects. Morning and afternoon sessions keep options flexible.
The Wishing Stone delights kids with a giant dinosaur window display and a bulk bin of rocks. They’ll love learning about crystals and picking out geodes to crack open at home.
Dog-Friendly Downtown Spots

If you need to go heads down, bring Fido with you to Workhorse Coworking. It’s a dog-friendly coworking space!
When either of you needs to recaffeinate, take a stroll to Starbucks to order a latte for you and a puppicino for them. Linger at one of the outdoor tables, and people-watch all the happenings right by the fountain. Then, pop across the street for a treat from The Rusty Pelican, which keeps them on hand for Fido.
And when you’re ready for a cold one, head to the dog-friendly patios at Leftcraft or Salish Sea Brewing, where dogs and humans are always welcome.
